Chef William (Bill) Vandenburg
At a young age, Bill fell in love with food and food science. After graduating from Incline High, Bill found himself at the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in San Diego and started his career at Torrey Pines Golf Resort. Bill continued his work in the Palm Springs area and helped open Pacifica Seafood, now a mainstay of the Gardens on El Paseo. He honed his skills butchering at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, working closely with Roy Yamaguchi of Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion in Rancho Mirage and in the high-end Mediterranean fusion restaurants, Omri and Boni. In 2007, eager to return to Lake Tahoe, Bill accepted the Sous Chef position for IVGID and has worked diligently over the past ten years to hone, advance and improve the food and beverage outlets peppered throughout the town of Incline Village.
Tahoe WineXperience - Kristi Snyder
Kristi Snyder created Tahoe WineXperience after serving for over twenty years as the Lead Sommelier at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe’s Lone Eagle Grille. She studied at the Culinary Institute of America in both Napa and Davis, California and is a member of the Court of Master Sommeliers. She has worked with many great Winemakers and Vineyard Managers; experiencing the entire realm of wine production from picking grapes to working on the bottling line. Kristi’s goal is to share what she has learned regarding the important role food and wine play in our lives. Catch Kristi’s contagious passion for wine by joining her for a Tahoe WineXperience.
When founders Koerner and Joan Rombauer moved their two children, two horses and five dogs to Napa Valley in 1972, they arrived armed with an appreciation for the intimate relationship between food and wine. Their appreciation stemmed from Koerner’s great aunt Irma Rombauer having authored internationally renowned cookbook the Joy of Cooking and his ancestors originating from the winegrowing region of Rheingau, Germany, where wine is considered an essential complement to a meal. Appreciation bred passion, and Rombauer Vineyards was established in 1980. The winery remains owned and operated by first-, second- and third-generation members of the family.
