“Time to get back to Normal” (April 27, 2021)
Spring has arrived and it’s time to start getting out and enjoying all that Incline Village and Crystal Bay have to offer. One of the great summer enjoyments comes from golf and we have two great options here. The Championship Course for those who like a challenge and the Mountain Course for those who like great views and shorter shots, but don’t be fooled as this course is also challenging! Jeff Clouthier and his staff have been hard at work preparing both courses for all of our golfers enjoyment and I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised at how good the courses are after a very brutal winter. Opening dates for the courses have been announced and are posted on the 2021 Golf Season Opening Dates page.
Senior Head Professional, Kyle Thornburg and Mountain Course Head Professional, Ashley Wood are busy planning for what we hope will be a closer to normal golf season. Most of you will notice some new smiling, friendly faces this season and our management staff is busy training them on how to deliver the best possible customer service to you and your guests.
Current plans are to open, as close as possible, to normal operations and below is what we are working towards:
- Normal tee times with 12-minute intervals (Championship Course).
- Normal tee time booking procedure as in years past (online, phone, in-person) with no pre-booking fees up to two weeks in advance.
- Two golfers to a cart, all carts have been equipped with dividers for your safety and convenience.
- Coolers will available on the golf carts.
- Staff will be available to load your golf bags on the carts and unload and clean your clubs following the round.
- Beverage cart service will be fully reinstated for the Championship Course.
New for 2021, all players will be required to guarantee their tee time with a credit card to facilitate our cancellation policy.
Food and beverage operations will be up and running for takeout at The Grille at The Chateau starting May 4th and dine-in will open May 11th. At the time of this writing, capacity limits for food and beverage are still unknown. However, we are making plans to have our food and beverage operations at 100% capacity once we are given the “green light”. Chef Bill and his staff are anxiously awaiting to get back to full capacity and be able to serve all of our locals and guests. Details will be posted on the IVGID Food & Beverage Health & Safety news page.
Some restrictions will still remain such as smaller class sizes for Get Golf Ready, Junior Programming and Clinics. Please refer to golfincline.com and join the email club for more details this spring.
Lastly, I’m not sure how many people realize this, but IVGID will be celebrating 60 years of being a GID (General Improvement District) this summer. This will be a year of celebration and reflecting on all that has been accomplished at IVGID over the last 60 years and that list is quite impressive! All of these accomplishments and no debt. Planning is ongoing for this historic celebration so be on the lookout for more information as it becomes available.
I hope to see you out enjoying the golf courses, beaches, parks, hiking trails and everything else this amazing place has to offer. Smile, stay healthy and enjoy all that IVGID has to offer.
Keep it Simple,
Director of Golf and Community Services
