Neil Gunn and Scott Schuster team up to create the Incline Village Golf Academy
Incline Village golf instruction programs will focus on cooperative approach to learning.
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (May 11, 2017) – This summer, the Golf Courses at Incline Village are excited to welcome Teaching Professional Neil Gunn back to Tahoe after a one-season absence in 2016. Gunn will join forces with returning Teaching Professional Scott Schuster, whom he has worked closely with for many years in Florida.
Together, Gunn and Schuster plan to create the Incline Village Golf Academy – a cooperative approach to golf instruction that will offer a wide range of private and semi-private lesson options, golf clinics, junior golf programs and custom club fitting services – headquartered at the Incline Village Championship Course.
The collaborative approach to instruction will encourage students to work with either of the Teaching Professionals in developing their golf game, while ensuring there is a seamless handoff between the two instructors.
“We’ve worked together for a long time, and we both teach in a similar style,” Gunn said of his relationship with Schuster. “But sometimes one instructor can say something or demonstrate something in a slightly different way that makes it click for the student better. Plus we each have different strengths in the game, so we really feel that having both of us available will be a great advantage for our students.”
“I’m excited to be back and to be working with Neil in our unique academy environment where we’ll be sharing the responsibility of working with all the students,” Schuster said. “Going to Incline Village last summer felt like coming home, and I’m excited to be back.”
Adding a second Teaching Professional to the instructor pool at the Incline Village Golf Courses is a goal that Director of Golf Michael McCloskey has had for a number of years.
“We’ve had tremendous demand for the services that our Teaching Professionals provide as we continue to grow the game, and we’ve been fortunate to have incredible instructors like Neil and Scott to help meet that demand,” McCloskey said. “So I’m incredibly excited that we’ve been able to retain both instructors this summer to implement their Incline Village Golf Academy concept and take our golf instruction to the next level.”
According to Schuster, recent technological upgrades will be highlighted in all private lessons offered this year, including optional FlightScope and/or real-time video analysis of students’ swings at no extra cost.
Gunn and Schuster will also lead the Incline Village Golf Courses Junior Golf programs this season including the popular Junior Golf Camps, the PGA Junior League team(s), and a new Elite Junior Camp program focused on advanced concepts for competitive juniors. They will also team up to teach the Get Golf Ready level 2 clinics – a series of five consecutive clinics designed to expand upon the fundamentals learned in the Get Golf Ready level 1 series. The Level 2 clinics will be offered three times throughout the 2017 golf season.
After taking the summer of 2016 off, Gunn is mostly just excited to be getting out of Florida this summer and returning to the Lake Tahoe region for another season.
“I’m excited to come back to Incline Village, continue my great relationship with the community there, and help grow the game of golf in one of the most beautiful places in the world,” Gunn said.
Golf instruction will be available at both the Incline Village Championship and Mountain golf courses this season, with instructors available from 9 a.m. until dusk daily. For more information or to schedule a golf lessons or clinic, please see GolfIncline.com or call 775-832-1146.
