spencer nelsonSPENCER NELSON - ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT, CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE

Spencer developed a passion for golf maintenance while working seasonal golf course maintenance in Estes Park, Colorado. This led him to obtain a B.S. in Horticulture from Iowa State University. While at Iowa State, he did multiple internships at Yellowstone Club, Montreux Golf and Country Club, and helped construct a new practice facility for the ISU golf teams. After graduation Spencer returned to Yellowstone Club as the Senior Assistant Superintendent and has spent the last six years as Assistant Superintendent at Montreux. He has worked seven PGA Tour events including the Barracuda Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

bree watersBREE WATERS - DISTRICT PROJECT MANAGER, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Bree grew up in Tahoe City, and pursued her education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She returned to the mountains to start her engineering and construction management career.

Bree spent 10 years in the civil engineering design field, working on projects ranging from underground infrastructure to trails and parks. She spent the last 10 years in the construction industry working as a Project Manager/Engineer in the private sector in the Truckee/Tahoe area.

Currently living in Truckee, she is raising her two kids, J.D. (7) and Lizzy (4) with her husband Alroy. When there is spare time, she’s the VP of Truckee Little League and coaches J.D.’s AA baseball team. They will soon be putting J.D. on the ski team at Diamond Peak and teaching Lizzy to ski.

Some also say she likes her pitches high and outside, and can drive a golf ball – at elevation – from the blue tee to the green on a par 4. She’s looking forward to golfing with new friends from IVGID.

hudson kleinHUDSON KLEIN - PRINCIPAL ENGINEER, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Hudson has recently returned to Tahoe after a nine-year stint in New Zealand working as a Project Engineer and Manager for a large general contractor in Christchurch.

Originally from Cincinnati, he lived in North Lake Tahoe from 2005-2012 and is excited to be living in the mountains again.

Workwise, he has done a bit of nearly everything in the civil infrastructure world and is looking forward to learning some new skills in the recreation and public works sectors; but, he also misses the metric system.

When not working, he likes the usual skiing/climbing/mountain sports as everyone else in Tahoe and likes to share each with his partner (Hannah) and baby girl (Mabel) and dog as often as possible.

MATTHEW FORSYTHE - VIDEO & PHOTO PRODUCTION COORDINATOR, MARKETING DEPARTMENT

A Cleveland native and Reno transplant (2017), Matthew Forsythe joined the IVGID team in October 2021. When he’s not exploring his home in the Sierras, you can find him in our Diamond Peak office chopping up footage from the Incline Village area.

With both a seasoned eye for aesthetics and a sharp marketing mind, Matthew’s experience includes everything from website design to social media strategy to SEO and analytics. Matthew sharpened his skills at Ohio University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and his Masters of Arts in Interactive Visual Communication. Upon graduation, Matthew worked as a freelance designer and videographer - producing killer content and perfecting pixels for clients ranging from yoga studios to taxi cab companies. Matthew was also the website and marketing manager for the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University and a design instructor at Ohio University. He recently worked for a local agency as a project manager and motion + still producer and currently runs his own photography and videography business on the side.

Matthew is an Eagle Scout and avid lover of all things outdoors including running, backpacking, backcountry skiing, and floating in his big blue canoe.

PROMOTIONS - Congratulations on your promotion and continued contribution to our community!

darel barlowDAREL BARLOW - UTILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Hi, I’m Darel Barlow, Utilities Maintenance Specialist for the Public Works Department. I started with the District in 2002 as the buildings technician on loan to Public Works. I worked my way through positions at the treatment plant, pipeline and most recently as compliance inspector. I was born and raised in the small northern California town of Willits, in beautiful Mendocino County. I am a proud Husband and Father of two teenage boys. We moved to Incline Village in 2000 for the amazing recreational opportunities and of course Lake Tahoe. We stayed for 4 years before moving to South Reno.

Before IVGID, I served four years in the US Navy as a Hull Maintenance Technician achieving the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. My first tour of duty was completed at NAS Alameda, California, performing various welding fabrication jobs including pipefitting, sheet metal, damage control and firefighting, supporting US Navy and Coast guard vessels. My second tour of duty was on-board the USS Samuel Gompers (AD-37) providing fleet support to nuclear cruisers during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm conflict. I completed my military duty in 1996 and took a job in San Rafael California doing HVAC work on major commercial projects in San Francisco and Oakland. I also spent time working in the wine business traveling to different wineries throughout California fabricating and installing large refrigerated stainless steel wine tanks, aluminum catwalk and other essential winery equipment.

In my free time. I enjoy being with my family, playing guitar and snowboarding.

jim youngbloodJIM YOUNGBLOOD - UTILITIES SUPERINTENDENT, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

I started with the District in 1988 as a Mechanic in the Public Works Department’s Utilities Shop. In 1991, I joined the Pipeline Crew as an Operator I. Over the next several years I held several positions within the Public Works Utilities Department.

In 2014 I briefly went to work for Lyon County as the Utilities Superintendent, and was promoted to the position of Deputy Public Works Director. Then in 2015 I rejoined the IGVID team as the Public Works Utilities Maintenance Specialist.

In the past six years we’ve worked hard to make the operation of the Utilities Department better for the operators, and to increase the reliability of our system for all of our customers. In November of 2021, I was promoted to the position of Public Works Utilities Superintendent. I’ve always enjoyed the utilities field of work as every day there’s a different project or challenge to tackle.
In my free time I enjoy being with my family, riding our motorcycle, kayaking, hunting, snowshoeing, and being out in the mountains or desert in our side-by-side off-road vehicle.
