Middle School Contemporary Jazz Performance Session

Instructor Brittnee Bramy has designed a Contemporary Jazz class specifically for Middle Schoolers!  Contemporary Jazz is an eclectic, versatile dance form that is relevant to the pop culture of today.  It incorporates jazz, ballet, modern and some HipHop elements. Dancers will build upon techniques that encourage the personal expression of movement.

16 Classes Begin: Fridays, March 3 - March 31 

Following Spring Break: Fridays, April 21 - June 2

Time: 2:30pm - 3:30pm

Location: Incline Village Recreation Center, Group Fitness Room, 980 Incline Way

Performance Date: Friday, June 9, 2017 (details to follow) at Incline High School Theater, 499 Village Blvd

Fee for 12 classes and performance costume: $190 or $150 w/IVGID pass

Drop-In Fee: $16 or $13 w/IVGID Pass

Shotokan Karate (all ages)

This class is designed for everyone interested in learning the art of Karate. The beginner or the advanced student will be able to make great progress in self-defense and benefit from improved physical and mental health, self-discipline and self-confidence. This is an ongoing class taught by Gregg Henrikson. Scholarships available. Please pick up an application at the Parks & Recreation Department Counter or call (775) 832-1310 for details.

Leaders in Training and Education Program (LITE)

The Incline Village Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, hard-working teens entering 6th - 10th grade for our LITE program. LITE members will be trained and work for a minimum of one full week at our summer camp (about 30 hours). They will be in charge of designing and leading activities on their assigned week, have the opportunity to go on field trips, receive valuable training and be responsible for planning the end of the year camp party. Members of the program will receive community service hours, resume building, real work experience, and leadership skills.

School Year Programs

Teen Dances (Grades 6-8)

The Parks & Recreation Department sponsors four teen dances every school year. We have a great DJ that plays all the latest music. Appropriate dress and behavior is required to attend our dances. No glow items are allowed. All Incline, Lake Tahoe School, TEA, and Sage Ridge middle school students are welcome to attend!

Dates: Spring, Fall, Winter dates TBD; 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Fee: $8/person at the door with student ID card

Community Leadership Club

High School Students: Meets on Wednesdays from 11:30am-12:00pm in room 213 at Incline High School, pizza is provided!

Looking for community service activities to graduate? The Community Leadership Club is a great opportunity for students to get involved, gain leadership skills and experience, while earning volunteer hours. As members of the CLC, formerly Youth Advisory Council, students will be direct volunteers for IVGID Parks and Recreation. At meetings students will brainstorm, plan and implement fun, recreational events and programs for their peers. Students will receive community service hours for attending meetings, hosting events, and volunteering for fun events in the community.
