Congratulations and welcome to Incline Village/Crystal Bay

Let us be among the first to welcome you to our community. The Incline Village General Improvement District (commonly referred to as IVGID or The District) strives to continually enhance the reputation of our community as an excellent place to live, work, recreate, visit and invest. We want to invite you to enjoy the fun of being a resident by introducing you to all of our great services and amenities we have to offer. Below are some helpful links to help get you started!

IVGID Four Main Functions

Trash. Sewer. Water. Recreation.

Or put another way: IVGID Ordinances #1, #2, #4 and #7.

Since 1961 when the Incline Village General Improvement District was first created by Washoe County, the District has built, maintained and operated the community’s sewer and water systems. Since then, the District has also been chartered to handle solid waste (trash) service within the community, as well as parks and recreation services and amenities.

This scope makes IVGID the largest employer in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay community, and an important resource for new residents looking to sign up for services and get out and recreate in town.

IVGID’s Organizational Structure

IVGID is overseen by a five-member Board of Trustees who are each elected to four-year terms. Board meetings are generally held about twice a month, and residents are welcome and encouraged to attend in-person or watch virtually to stay informed on decisions made by the elected Trustees.

The five Trustees hire and manage the District’s General Manager, who oversees the rest of the District’s staff. Click here to learn more about our current Trustees (as well as how to potentially become one), and here to meet the IVGID Senior Management Team.

IVGID Administration includes Human Resources, Risk Management, Accounting and Finance, and Information Technology and it represents the backbone for the entire District. The Administration offices are at 893 Southwood Boulevard, Incline Village. The District’s General Manager has an office here and you can routinely see the Trustees coming and going from this location. Administration provides payroll services, recruiting, risk management, general and administrative support, and information technology support throughout the District.

The Public Works department provides water and sewer services, as well as management of the solid waste contract, to the residential and commercial users located within Incline Village and Crystal Bay. The Public Works department takes great pride in providing clean and safe Tahoe Tap® drinking water, and in collecting and treating the community’s sewage through well-maintained infrastructure and our highly skilled staff. New residents may need to contact our Public Works department to set up water, sewer and trash service in your name.

In 1965, Washoe County amended IVGID’s enabling ordinance to add recreation facilities to its responsibilities, and in 1968 IVGID purchased the restricted-access beaches in town for the use of its parcel owners and their guests. In subsequent years, the District purchased and managed the two Incline Village Golf Courses (the Championship and Mountain courses), Diamond Peak Ski Resort (originally known as Ski Incline), and developed a number of additional recreational amenities including the Incline Village Recreation Center, the Tennis & Pickleball Center, and parks such as Village Green, Preston Field, and the ball fields at Ridgeline Par to name a few.
