The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) Public Works Department provides water and sewer services, as well as management of the solid waste (trash) contract, to the 8,106 residential and commercial users located within Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Trash collection is provided by Waste Management Inc. through a franchise agreement.
It is a great responsibility to provide clean and safe drinking water to all of our residents and visitors. The Nevada Department of Environmental Protection (NDEP) regulates our drinking water system through authority by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Safe Drinking Water Act and its amendments. The collection and treatment of wastewater is equally important in protecting the public health and safety of our residents and visitors. There is a higher level of responsibility because we are located in the Lake Tahoe Basin. In addition the District must operate and maintain a complex effluent export system to send all of our treated wastewater out of the Lake Tahoe Basin to meet these regulatory requirements. The NDEP is the regulating authority of IVGID for the collection and treatment of wastewater under the Clean Water Act and its amendments.
