FAQ: IVGID Beach Access for Hyatt Hotel Guests

Statement on summer 2025 Hyatt hotel guest access to IVGID beaches

Updated 4/25/2025

IVGID staff has been working with the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino to coordinate beach access for their hotel guests this summer while the Hyatt’s private beach is closed due to a renovation project (see details below). This decision is based on the fact that as part of the IVGID Beach Deed, Hyatt hotel guests have access to IVGID beaches.

During the renovations, the Hyatt will be pre-purchasing daily passes for their guests at the regular guest rates ($17 adult/$9 child). The Hyatt will provide shuttle service to and from the beaches for their guests, ensuring that parking at the IVGID beaches is not impacted by Hyatt guests. Hyatt guests will be informed of the IVGID beach rules and conditions that all IVGID parcel owners and their guests are expected to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there limits to the numbers of Hyatt hotel guests who can access IVGID Beaches on a daily basis?

A: Yes, the Hyatt has agreed to limit the total number of daily beach access passes supplied to their hotel guests to a percentage of their maximum occupancy consistent with the limits imposed on other hotels within the Incline Village/Crystal Bay community. Additionally, the Hyatt has agreed to divide their maximum daily beach access across Incline and Burnt Cedar beaches so as to reduce the impact on any one IVGID beach. These limits will be a maximum of 415 Hyatt guests at Incline Beach and a maximum of 365 at Burnt Cedar beach per day.

Q: Are you saying that there will be 780 Hyatt hotel guests on the beaches every day this summer?

A: No. The maximum guest counts above are simply the maximum numbers allowed under our agreement. Both the Hyatt management and IVGID staff anticipate the true numbers of Hyatt hotel guests will be much lower than the maximum numbers allowed on a daily basis.

Q: How was the 780 daily maximum number determined?

A: These maximum daily beach guests per day numbers were determined based on a percentage of the hotel’s maximum daily occupancy numbers (1,082 for the Hyatt). Specifically, the Hyatt was allowed daily beach visits equal to 72% of their maximum daily occupancy, resulting in a limit of 780 Hyatt guests per day. This percentage of maximum daily occupancy is consistent with the agreement already in place with The Incline Lodge (formerly called the Parkside Inn) – the other hotel within Incline Village which has beach access for their hotel guests per the Beach Deed.

Q: Does Ordinance #7 and/or the Beach Deed permit Hyatt hotel guests to access the beaches?

A: Yes, paragraph 76 of IVGID Ordinance #7 reads: Occupants of Hotels & Motels shall be provided access to the Beaches, if any, consistent with the terms of the Beach Deed and through a District verification and administration process. This process, at a minimum, shall include the payment of an Hotel/Motel Occupant fee and include a reasonable limitation on the maximum number of Hotel/Motel Occupant to be provided access per Hotel/Motel. Access shall be limited to occupants of the Hotel or Motel during the time that they are occupants, and not before check-in or after check-out from the hotel.

In addition, the IVGID Beach Deed specifies that the beaches: “…shall be held, maintained and used by grantee, its successors and assigns, only for the purposes of recreation by, and for the benefit of, property owners and their tenants (specifically including occupants of motels and hotels) within the Incline Village General Improvement District as now constituted, and, as the Board of Trustees of said District may determine, the guests of such property owners…”

Q: Will Hyatt guests be allowed to park at the beaches?

A: No, the Hyatt will provide shuttle service to and from the IVGID beaches for Hyatt guests.

Q: Will Hyatt hotel guests be able to bring additional friends/guests with them to the beaches?

A: No, only hotel guests will be permitted to access the IVGID beaches during this renovation period.

Q: Will Hyatt hotel guests be able to access Ski Beach or Hermit Beach?

A: Hyatt hotel guests will not be allowed access through the Ski Beach gate; however, access to Ski Beach and Hermit Beach can be obtained via the Incline Beach footbridge.

Q: When will Hyatt hotel guests be able to access the beaches?

A: This process will begin on May 1, 2025. Only currently checked-in occupants of the Hyatt Regency may be issued a Beach Access Ticket. All Beach Access Tickets will be given out day-of to hotel guests wanting to recreate at the beaches. Beach access will not be provided prior to check-in or after check-out.

Q: Will Hyatt hotel guests get special treatment/services at the IVGID Beaches?

A: No. Hyatt hotel guests will be treated the same as all other parcel holders and guests on the beaches. Hyatt staff will not be on the IVGID beaches providing any special services. There will be no designated areas for Hyatt hotel guests. And Hyatt guests will be subject to the same rules and expectations as all other beach patrons.

Q: Will Hyatt staff be providing any services on the IVGID Beaches? Or helping manage Hyatt guests on the beaches?

A: No. Hyatt staff will not be providing any services on the beaches. Hyatt staff will facilitate the shuttle service to/from the beaches for Hyatt guests, but will not be offering any services inside the beach facilities.

Q: How will IVGID staff manage the additional impacts that Hyatt hotel guests create at the beaches?

A: As noted above, the Hyatt will be paying the standard guest access fees for each hotel guest who wants to access the beaches. These fees will generate incremental revenues for IVGID which can be used to offset the operational impacts that Hyatt hotel guests will have on the beaches.

Q: How can I get more information on this agreement?

A: For further questions, please utilize the Contact Us form and choose the “Incline Village Parks & Recreation” department as your contact selection.
