As the seasons change from summer to fall, it may be a bit cooler on the course, especially in the mornings. Be prepared by following these tips from the Incline Village Golf Courses professionals: golf_clothing

1. Layer up: Extra layers of clothing will restrict your flexibility and body movements, so we suggest wearing warm and thin layers and an athletic base layer to keep the heat in. Wear a warm, light layer on top that you can easily peel off when it heats up.

2. Keep your hands warm: If your hands get cold, your feel and control of your club declines rapidly. Carry hand warmers in your pockets or get golf gloves for both hands that are slightly insulated.

3. Club up for distance: The golf ball doesn’t fly as well through cold air as it does in the dry hot air. Take this into account by using one more club for your distances. If you used an 8-iron for a specific distance in the summer, you may want to try a 7-iron instead.

4. Plan for more roll towards the end of the season: The ground is harder this time of year, causing the ball to roll more due to the weather and compaction to the turf from summer traffic. Account for more roll than usual on the greens and approaches.

5. Keep moving: If you’re able to walk the course you will stay warmer and be less likely to stiffen up. If you are in a golf cart, walk to your ball to keep your blood circulating. If it’s really cold or raining you may want to upgrade to our covered carts for $15 to stay warm and keep your equipment dry.
