Every golfer wants more power and distance from their shots. What most beginners don’t know and what seasoned players forget over time, is that it’s all in the hips.

When the hips are turned it creates torque in the lower body, kind of like a rubber band.  When torque or resistance is created in the lower body it is stored power that helps create those long powerful drives. Next time you watch a pro play, notice how their hips rotate.

The best way to open the hips and harvest this power is to not think about the hips at all.  The secret is in thinking about the shoulders.  Think about getting the left shoulder over the right toe because this turns the hips automatically.  Then use that stored energy to snap the hips and let the arms follow. Voilà! You just smashed it an extra 20 yards. Old Stubbs from Happy Gilmore was right!  It is all in the hips.
