Learn to Lift Workshop

Our Learn to Lift Workshop is designed to help teens build a strong foundation in the gym in a safe, supportive environment. This FREE 90 minute class introduces participants ages 12–18 to the basics of strength training while focusing on proper technique, confidence, and gym awareness.

During the workshop, participants will learn:

  • Gym etiquette – how to share equipment, clean stations, and train respectfully in a gym setting.
  • Proper form and technique – safe lifting mechanics to prevent injury and build good habits early.
  • Cable machines – how to adjust and use cable stations for common exercises.
  • Dumbbells and basic strength movements – learning fundamental lifts and controlled movement patterns.
  • Machine exercises – how to correctly set up and use common weight machines.

Our goal is to help young athletes and beginners feel comfortable in the gym, understand how equipment works, and develop safe lifting habits they can use for years to come. The workshop is coached and beginner-friendly, with time for questions and individual guidance.

No prior lifting experience required, just bring comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle, and a willingness to learn!

Meet the Trainers

Adam

Adam is a Certified Personal Trainer with decades of hands on experience in strength training, movement and performance based fitness. Adam will help you with your goals, whether training for a specific sport, increasing agility or building strength and confidence.

Dalton

Dalton is a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutritionist and CrossFit Instructor with years of experience working with all ages and abilities. Her love and knowledge of all things health and wellness supports a wide range of goals—from building strength and training for specific sports to weight loss, injury or post-surgical recovery, improving mobility, and maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Register by calling 775-832-1310 or visiting the Recreation Center (980 Incline Way).
