Indoor Pickleball players

What is more fun than learning and playing the game of pickleball? Keeping the fun going all winter long, even when the outdoor pickleball courts are covered by feet of snow.

These days, many people want to learn the game with the funny name, especially here in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Some have heard about it from friends and family or seen it played on television. Others were ready to transition from more strenuous sports to a game all ages can play together.

Regardless of why people first try the sport, the reasons people get hooked so quickly are many: It’s easy to learn, relatively inexpensive, can be played indoors and outdoors, and courts are popping up everywhere around the United States and internationally.

By June, we’ll have been playing pickleball for months at the Incline Village Tennis & Pickleball Center, which features 15 permanent outdoor pickleball courts, along with regularly scheduled clinics and drop-in play. But did you know that there are opportunities to continue playing pickleball all winter long inside the Incline Village Recreation Center Gymnasium?

The crew of regulars who play all year have many reasons... Playing regularly keeps them moving and in shape during the long winter months. Many enjoy the social aspect of the game and the connections forged with other players. And some just want to stay sharp for when they travel to warmer locales and want to find a game.

This past winter we even introduced a crop of new players to the sport via our beginner clinics. These new players left with a sense of confidence, created new friendships, and now have a group to play with who are at the same skill level this summer.

“Kimberly does a great job at making the lessons fun for everyone.  It’s also a great way to meet fellow pickleball playmates for future games!” - Jennifer Grant
